Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Effective Saturday, March 14, Benet Academy is closed and all extracurricular activities are suspended until further notice. Check here for further updates.

After the decision by Bishop Richard Pates, the apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Joliet, to temporarily close the Catholic schools of the Joliet Diocese and in consultation with Abbot Austin Murphy, O.S.B., Benet Academy chancellor, Principal Stephen Marth announced the temporary closure of Benet Academy.

Beginning on Monday, March 16, in lieu of regular class meetings, Benet Academy will begin implementing eLearning protocols. (Benet will continue to observe spring break as planned from Monday March 30 through Friday, April 3.)

Also, effective Saturday, March 14, 2020, all extracurricular activities at Benet Academy are suspended until further notice. Athletic practices are on hold in order to achieve the social distancing that officials are promoting to slow the spread of the coronavirus. During this temporary school closure, student athletes will not be allowed admittance to school buildings including the weight room, fitness center, and gyms.

In the days ahead, we will remain in close communication with the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other agencies managing the public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic and provide updates as necessary.
