Since beginning our Building + Inspiring + Leading strategic initiative in the fall of 2015, we have made numerous, substantial improvements to the Benet student experience.
We are now thrilled to unveil our most exciting and transformative project to date!
Our new Arts & Ideas Center, as designed, built, and furnished by the Aspen Group, will provide Benet students further opportunities to pursue excellence in academics, technology, and the arts and to collaborate with each other in both formal and informal settings.
EXCELLENCE IN THE ARTS
With the enrollment in visual arts classes on the rise and with the current studio space inadequate to meet the requirements of an expanding visual arts curriculum, Benet desperately needs new visual arts spaces.
These additions will feature new and improved classrooms for drawing and painting, areas for sculpture, ceramics and pottery, and space for digital graphics and design.
Enhancements adjacent to our St. Daniel Hall Performing Arts space will include multipurpose areas for dance, Avions, Cheerleading, student rehearsal, backstage facilities, and costume and set storage.
These improvements will provide Benet with cutting edge visual and performing art offerings to remain competitive with our public school counterparts.
Benet, as an academic leader, has always used its library space effectively. However, the current library, which was originally constructed in 1975, is insufficient to meet 21st century approaches to learning.
A new Library Collaboration Center will allow for silent study, research, and small group and classroom-sized collaboration in both formal and informal settings. These enhancements will positively impact the entire student body as well as the faculty and staff.
Multipurpose rooms in the Arts & Ideas Center will provide versatile meeting spaces for counseling information sessions, parent group gatherings, board meetings, and other special events after school and in the evening.
The new Large Multipurpose space will be extremely flexible and can be transitioned to be used for student study halls during the school day, performance rehearsal space after school and Mothers Club or Dads Club meetings in the evenings.
In an age of digital technology, we want to give our students opportunities to personally connect and support one another. The first floor of the Arts & Ideas Center will include soft study seating for our students to comfortably study, collaborate and converse with their classmates.
As our students are given more areas to collaborate, so, too, will Benet faculty and staff. The old Faculty Center will be transformed into a Faculty/Staff Collaboration Center that will equip our teachers with state-of-the-art space to continue to master their craft through collaboration with colleagues.
New academic classrooms and spaces will empower both our students and faculty with the tools to take full advantage of modern, creative learning environments.
A TRADITION REBORN
Benet Academy is a legendary academic institution in the Lisle community and throughout Chicagoland. The Arts & Ideas Center will celebrate the history, heritage, and tradition of Benet’s academic legacy as well as Benedictine life. This will be accomplished in the overall design of the space and through dedicated areas that will highlight the spirituality and values so critical to Benet via historical images, displays, and wayfinding tools.
